DB2/400 - Oracle Database Analyst
NEED IMMEDIATELY.
Location: Durham /NC
Rate $52/hr
Duration :6 months

 F2F is a must
1.     BASIC PURPOSE.  Give a brief statement of the overall principal purpose or function of this position.
Support the development teams in analyzing system requirements to develop logical and physical entity relationship models and deploy modeled objects.  Support the production systems, and be responsible for physical database changes and additions on multiple platforms (iSeries (AKA AS/400), pSeries (AKA RS/6000)). Mentor other DBA team members when appropriate.  Provide project team support for query optimization.

DB2/400 - Oracle Database Analyst
·         Job Duties
·         Design database objects (Logical and Physical) and processes in IDA
·         Creation of any database object in DB2/400 Database
·         Help resolve RI conflicts and record deadlock problems in Oracle and DB2/400
·         Execute and monitor data fixes as necessary
·         Participate in Business Recovery tests at remote sites for both iSeries and Oracle platforms.
·         Communicate effectively with Project Leaders and team members  in IT&S Department
·         Mentoring and Cross Training other DBA team members
·         Liaison between external resources and internal resources for database projects.
·         Follow current standard Change Management policies for the department, as well as standards, policies and procedures that are specific to the Information Management Team.
·         Create and implement database portions of project plans.
·         Provide project estimates for DBA skills to project managers.
·         Turnover change management promotion process for all iSeries objects including IFS objects.
·         CVS change management processes relating to IDA.
·         Manage security on iSeries and Oracle platforms, including object security and authorization lists
·         Creation of any database object in Oracle Database
·         Help resolve communication issues between Oracle and DB2/400 (Access Manager & Oracle Transparent Gateway)

Oracle and DB2/400 Administration
·         Job Duties
·         Monitor daily Oracle backups
·         Monitor Oracle Table Spaces and Data file status for space constraints
·         Monitor Oracle database performance as needed
·         Execute and monitor data fixes as necessary
·         Troubleshoot remote database connections (to other Oracles and to iSeries)
·         Recover Oracle database from RMAN/TSM system at DR test site
·         Tuning of queries for better performance on iSeries and Oracle.
·         Coordinate multi-platform promotions.
·         Maintain appropriate level of communication with UG’s vendor of choice for Oracle Support


3.     KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, EXPERIENCE and MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED.  State the minimum formal education and years of work experience required to satisfactorily perform the position’s duties.  Include specific educational requirements and list any positions, which may lead to this position.
A Senior Database Administrator should have the following skills
·         DB2/400 experience (5 or more years)
·         Relational Modeling Experience
·         Experience with both command line and Ops Navigator database functionality.
·         Exposure to Oracle.
·         Experience with system and application monitoring tools.
·         Experience in a software development environment.
·         Experience with RPG/CL for the iSeries environments.
·         Experience with SQL/DDL and DDS for both iSeries and Oracle environments.
·         Experience and knowledge of Change control systems.
·         Familiarity with Web Based Development Technologies and Web Applications
·         Must be willing to work on all platforms and databases in use at United Guaranty
·         Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
·         Experience mentoring and cross training
·         Working knowledge of the IFS on iSeries and transferring IFS objects using Turnover.
·         Working knowledge of journals on iSeries and how to use them for audit purposes.
·         Time management, planning, and organization skills.
·         Excellent oral, written communication skills.



General:
·         Any DB2 Universal, AIX experience, IDA and TSM experience a plus

·         Oracle Administration experience
