Job description:
Network Design Engineer responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating network designs at Agencies to perform deep dive site assessments required for the successful migration of applications and services to a centralized data center as part of the client initiative; developing run books and detailed network diagrams; interfacing with DoITT teams to ensure that network changes flow efficiently; overseeing design and code router/switch configurations; implementing processes/functions on routers and switches as required, including but not limited to QoS, multicasting, NTP, VLAN configurations, TACACS, ISDN, HSRP, Content Networking, and advanced network routing; providing technical support for network issues; documenting problem tickets regarding the resolution of problems; providing advanced network assistance in new project development; providing technical assistance on the feasibility of new projects; installing and configuring Cisco Unified Call Manager (CCM) 7.x for a distributed cluster IP telephony deployment; installing voice modules and configuring Cisco IOS MGCP and H323 gateways w/ analog FXS, FXO or digital T1 interface to PSTN; configuring Cisco IOS gatekeeper; installing and configuring Cisco Unified Unity messaging with mixed mode licensing for large-scale deployment; performing the integration of Cisco Unified Unity servers with Active Directory and Exchange for unified messaging; performing SRST implementation on various platforms; participating in program activities within an established project methodology, including status reporting and strategic planning; and coordinating special network support projects as assigned.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.
The preferred candidate must possess the following:
Minimum of four (4) years experience with IP switched/router/based networks;
-Excellent written and oral communication skills;
-Ability to take the lead of projects assigned;
-Advanced knowledge of IP addressing and subnetting, routing protocols, including EIGRP, RIP, RIP2 and OSPF; Implementation of BGP (internal and external);
-Advanced installation/troubleshooting experience of Cisco hardware/OS software, including 75xx, 72xx, 36xx,and 26xx series routers, Nexus 7K 65xx, 37xx layer2/3 switches, CSS/ACE (content switches);
-IP network security utilizing Cisco PIX and/or Checkpoint platforms;
-RPR implementation and troubleshooting;
-Solid working knowledge of SONET and optical networking;
-WDM (CWDM, DWDM) implementation and troubleshooting;
-CIP, OSA, IP mainframe connectivity (IBM);
-Advanced switching technologies including MPLS.
-Candidate should have 3 years experience using Unified CCM, Cisco Unified Unity, IPCC Enterprise.
-Configure - including scripts - IP Contact Center (IPCC) server Cisco Unified Video conferencing.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE :
Cisco CCNP, CIPT, CCVP certifications highly desired.
