Position: Application Administrator
Location: Baltimore , MD
Rate: DOE
Job Summary:
An Application Administrator is responsible for all aspects of application administration. This includes installing, deploying, and maintaining applications on the Unix Solaris 10 platform. This individual needs to have a minimum of 5 years experience with system/application administration, preferably an enterprise wide application suite. In addition, the individual needs to have knowledge of weblogic administration and have a good understanding of overall information technology concepts, including the system development life cycle. Unix expertise and scripting is a must.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with other system administrators in performing functions such as application installs, clones, patching, and overall maintenance activities
- Analyze, install, and maintain tools required for system implementation
- Write shell scripts to automate system functions. Unix shell scripting is a must and other scripting experience is a plus
- Perform system configurations and weblogic administration
- Work with Corporate infrastructure teams to facilitate maintenance and implement key technologies
- Contribute to architecture design and implementation based on results of performance and operational readiness testing
Job Specifications:
Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years experience working on Solaris 10 operating systems
- Experience with Weblogic and Apache administration
- Strong scripting skills, primarily Unix shell scripting
- Knowledge of / experience with application development languages, utilities, life cycle methodology and software configuration management tools.
- Knowledge of / experience with relational and/or object oriented databases, primarily Oracle, SQL, SQLPLUS
- Understanding of single sign on, high availability, disaster recover, and load balancing technologies
- Advanced understanding of concepts, practices and procedures in information technology.
- Understanding of business unit needs to provide IT support within their functional area.
- Experience with the Oracle Utilities Suite of Products is a plus

- Am flexible in working after hours and on weekends if necessary to support aggressive project delivery

- Ability to recognize business problems or technical issues, inform supervision, and assist in developing feasible IT solutions.
- Ability to design and implement system scripts on a Unix and Windows platform.
- Ability to produce quality application documentation including requirements, design, test procedures, support logs, etc.
Technical Skills:
- Unix Solaris 10, Redhat Linux, vi editor
- Weblogic 10, Apache administration
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, 2000
- Oracle 10g, 11i
- Scripting language – Bash shell, Powershell, ANT, Perl, Awk, WLST, etc.
- Java, SQL, PLSQL
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline or the equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
· Minimum 5 years system administration experience dealing with large enterprise applications.
· Weblogic and Apache experience is a must, primarily experience configuring JMS modules, creating domains, clustering, etc.
Physical requirements, working conditions, and other factors to consider:
· Overtime when required by work schedules and workload
· May perform other duties to meet the team deliverables
