Location: Richmond, VA.

**This contract will be extended beyond 6/30, possibly for another year.

Conduct geographic information system (GIS) program activities, utilizing GIS hardware and software to produce maps, spatial databases and thematic data (such as wetlands, road centerlines, cadastre, and historic sites).

A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in GIS, cartography, CADD, or a related field.

The client's Information Technology Division is seeking an Geospatial Data Editor to join the Roadway Network System (RNS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) teams. The selected candidate will:

-Process enterprise geospatial data editing jobs; Support existing enterprise GIS data editing efforts;

-Work in concert with ongoing enterprise projects to provide the necessary geospatial support;

-Assist in reviewing, validating, and managing GIS data creation and editing requests;

-Analyze and report on quality of existing GIS data and processing efforts; Support GIS training and outreach efforts;

The Information Technology Division meets client's critical business needs by improving agency responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, through innovative research, defined architectures, planning, and optimal use of technology. The RNS & GIS Programs provide the framework for universal enterprise data access by linking geospatial and business attributes to roadway centerlines.

Selected candidate must have strong working knowledge and demonstrated experience in using geospatial editing toolsets within ESRI ArcGIS Desktop; must be highly motivated and have knowledge of ESRI Work Flow Manager processes, Python, geoprocessing tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and geospatial and relational database data management practices; Demonstrated ability to use GIS-based logic and reasoning in the creation and updating of enterprise geospatial data, especially road centerlines; demonstrated experience in synthesizing and analyzing geospatial data and processes; effectively communicate orally and in writing with internal business groups; interact comfortably and professionally in a team-oriented environment. Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science, Geography, Planning, Natural Resources, or related field. May substitute equivalent experience for Bachelor’s degree. Extensive technical experience and expertise utilizing ESRI’s ArcGIS products.
