Job Position : SQL Developer (Assistant DBA)
Location : Richmond, CA
Duration : 12+ Months
Rate : $8000/Month
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Manage Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) activities, including:
o Coordinate the activities between different development teams to identify the changes required in data transfer program to the reporting databases (DW and CRDB)
o Develop and migrate ETL changes to production after testing in the appropriate test environment for each build
o Lead technology upgrade for ETL for CRs related to SQL server version upgrades
o Monitor the transportation of data nightly via batch ETL process; troubleshoot the SSIS package in case of ETL failure
o Work with client to resolve issues related to data transfer in reporting databases
• Identify and implement performance improvement options for the ETL program to expedite program execution and to reduce the time required to monitor
• Support the SIS DBA with the following tasks:
o Create SIS database instances to support development and testing
o Perform routine planned maintenance of the database servers
o Update data dictionary and data models
o Perform database back-up and restore activities for development and test databases
• Support database tuning activities:
o Generate the performance statistics report to identify the performance bottlenecks
o Monitor storage space utilization through alerts and other monitoring tools
Qualifications:
• Must have previous experience as a development support DBA
o Strong working experience in implementing change control processes.
o Strong working knowledge of SQL administration, including failover, clustering, and performance tuning
o Experience in implementing backup and recovery tasks
o Minimum of 8 years professional IT experience required, of which at least 5 should be as a DBA
o MS SQL server DBA certification would be a plus
• Must have previous experience in implementing DTS and ETL programs
•Must have previous experience in data warehouse data modeling
o Familiarity with dimensional modeling techniques, such as star schema
o Familiarity with data staging modeling
• Must be able to provide good database design and documentation.
• Must have good understanding of processes and should be able to multitask.
• Must have the ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
