Oracle RAC


GC/EAD/CITIZENS /  H1 transfer / No C2C opportunity
 Positon : Oracle RAC
 Location : Princeton,Newjersy
 Duration : 8+months
 Rate      : $55/Hr
Senior DBA must have a solid understanding and strong working knowledge of Oracle RAC technology in a 10g /11g Unix based environment. Senior DBA must also have a good understanding of other supporting technologies such as Oracle replication using Streams, Virtual Private databases, Oracle Standby databases in a RAC environment, and support of databases in an active/passive environment leveraging a clustering technology such as HP Service Guard.
Major responsibilities and duties will include:
Primary point of contact (POC) to IT application teams for specific key operating environments (KOPs). As POC, DBA will be responsible for building strong relationships and providing a single
interface to the application team for database service delivery matters including project delivery, problems and performance issues.
• Stays abreast of emerging technologies in order to influence change across the organization.
• Assists in the evaluation, recommendation and operationalization of new database technology and services within the database environment
• Works with Application DBA’s and Storage Administrators in the optimal design of the physical database layout
• Leads and participates in the development of database standards and best practices for the organization.
• Documents all procedures and processes relevant to the database environment
• Assists with analyzing and tuning application performance issues by optimizing SQL, Stored Procedures and Triggers.
• Proactively monitors and recommends changes to the database environment to increase operational efficiency, improve reliability and minimize risk
• Provides troubleshooting support and prompt restoration of services, according to the Covance Incident Management process.
• Delivers quality root cause analysis (RCA) and timely follow through on corrective action plans (PCA), per the Covance Problem Management process
• Applies patches and upgrades per the Covance Software Currency and Patch management process
• Supports Audit investigations, finding reviews, and remediation activities associated with both internal and external driven audits.
• Works closely with IT developers and technology leaders to insure that quality standards, best practices and processes are developed and enforced
• Participates in the design, implementation and testing of enterprise-wide backup/recovery strategies.
• Assists in the development, implementation and testing of disaster recovery for the organization.
• Assists in the mentoring and coaching of less senior level associates.
• Provides 27 x 7 x 365 On-call operational support
 Education/Qualifications:

Required:
• At least 8 years experience supporting and maintaining Oracle database services in a complex IT environment, with emphasis on High availability, business continuity, standards, best practices and operational process efficiency
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• Proficient in a Unix/Linux and Windows operating environment
• Technical expertise of related products and services including but not limited to:
• Oracle 10g/11g Database Installation, Administration, Backup & Recovery using RMAN, Grid Control (L4)
• Oracle 11g RAC, ASM, Linux (L4)
• Oracle Data Guard (L3)
• Database Performance and problem troubleshooting (L4)
• Database tuning expertise (L3)
• HP/UX, Service Guard (L2)
• OLTP & Data warehousing working knowledge (L2)
• Innovative team player with strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in fast-paced environment

Position will also support the TOX HA/DR programs which is introducing new technology (Oracle 11g, RAC, Oracle unbreakable Linux) and over 20 new databases to the environment.
