Urgent need for Senior SQL DBA

Position: Senior SQL DBA   
Location: Dublin, OH
Duration: 6+ Months


Job Description:
The Senior DBA is responsible for the creation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of multiple large SQL Server databases on MI BAM project. 
Must be able to understand the application that he/she is supporting. Must be able to troubleshoot issue using a consistent methodology and he/she must be able to solve problems independently.
Must have a big picture of the application and relate various parts within the implementation. Must be able to understand and solve complex problems considering various variables.

Consultant Role/Responsibilities or Tasks on Project:
·         Planning and configuring databases for high availability and disaster recovery including clustering, replication and backup/restore processes.
·         Monitor and tune database and application procedures to provide/support a high availability service.
·         Work with the Development, Test, Conversion  and Performance Test teams to identify database related areas that needs improvements
·         Provide assistance with incident diagnosis, defect resolution, deployments, backup and restore.
·         Analyze the database and data model and identify potential risks with respect to security and performance.



Skills Required:
The candidate must have a strong problem solving skill.
Must be able to troubleshoot complex problems.
Must be aware of Performance analysis tools such as,
- SQL Server Profiler
- Major Perfmon counters
- SQL Server DMVs
- SQL Nexus (Optional)

The candidate must be able to approach a performance problem , use tools to analyze the problem and be able to get to the root cause. Must be able to help with corrective action to fix the problem.
The candidate must be able to  review performance artifacts and provide valuable advice. The candidate must be able to deal with complex situations, must be able to research and find root cause or fix when the issue is not straight forward. Must be able to have the ability to match multiple variables to visualize the problem.
The candidate must be aware of configuration management concepts like source control, versioning  and standard configuration management processes.
The candidate must be able to setup folder structure as per design and maintain them. Advanced concepts like Labels, Branching and Merging will be an advantage.

The candidate must have be able to write SQL Code such as
- Stored procedures, functions, triggers, views etc.
- Must be well versed with Data Definition Language (DDL), Data Manipulation Language (DML) and Transaction Control Language (TCL)
- Must have be able to look at already written code and trouble shoot if necessary
- Must be able to come up with the most optimal Database Code solution for a given requirement

The Candidate must be able to review code and suggest best practices.

Must be able to debug complex code and trouble shoot complex problems.  

The Candidate must be hands on with Standard Database Administration tasks such as
- Backups, Restores
- Database creation/Maintenance/security
- User creation/ Maintenance/ Security, Roles etc.
- Troubleshooting administration problems
- SQL Server agent jobs and its components
- Must be able to work with Replication/ Log shipping etc., at a high level

The Candidate must be able to trouble shoot and support complex situations with Database Admin tasks. Provide the best solution for a given project situation. Must have the ability to work with remote databases and make sure all the environments have standard configuration.  The Candidate must be able to guide and train team members.
