Sr. UNIX Systems Admin:
Location: Newbury Park CA.
Rate : $50/hr
GC/Citizens/EAD or H1 transfer only ( consultant needs to be on our W2)
Job Summary:
This is a SUN Unix Implementation Admin (UIE/UIA) position. An Open System Admin's duties will include a combination of systems architecture, systems development, Unix/Linux operating system lifecycle development, technical assessments, implementation engineering, regression process development, SAN support from a directory standpoint, technology scaling, server builds, migration and/or transition planning, project planning, standards validation/development, technical documentation, presentation to management, training and mentoring of more junior staff and troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Job Responsibilities:
An Open System Admin's duties will include a combination of systems architecture, systems development, Unix/Linux operating system lifecycle development, technical assessments, implementation administration, regression process development, SAN support from a directory standpoint, technology scaling, server builds, migration and/or transition planning, project planning, standards validation/development, technical documentation, presentation to management, training and mentoring of more junior staff and troubleshooting and problem resolution. This position may require lifting heavy computers and related items. Provide ongoing support in systems management and administration of Unix in global-scale environment. Open System Admin positions will work a normal work week and require rotational on-call Tier III support responsibilities.
Experience Required:
Ideal candidate is to have eight or more years of systems experience, including three or more years of systems and implementation engineering experience in complex large-scale IT environments. Domain expertise in midrange and enterprise SUN administration. Optional expertise in enterprise storage, backup, monitoring and networking. Technology experience must be current.
Additional skills required:
Demonstrable expertise with a wide range of SUN hardware platforms, Sun Enterprise E10K, 15K, 25K, SunFire 280, 440, 480, 490, 880, 1280 and legacy SUN hardware E3500s ,6800s Sparc and Ultra.
Demonstrable expertise with SUN OS and Solaris 8, 9 and 10.
Two Years hands on experience building SUN clusters with Veritas, SUN Cluster or other cluster software.
Engineering expertise for DMZ environments optional.
Hands-on engineering and implementation expertise with TCP/IP networks.
Demonstrable expertise with functional requirements assurance, complex project activities and project management.
Domain expert for SUN UNIX.
Experience working within systems life cycle processes.
Strong quality assurance and systems testing experience.
Ability to train and mentor more junior technical staff.
Exceptional troubleshooting and problem solution skills
Demonstrate expertise with day-to-day systems management and administration, including proactive monitoring and capacity and performance planning
Excellent communication
Additional skills desired:
TCP/IP security domain expertise, e.g., host-based firewalls, intrusion detection or VPNs.
Storage networking expertise.
Past service provider engineering experience.
Must be proactive, possess professional engineering and quality assurance skills, be a team player; have excellent communication skills; be aggressive with problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills on highly complex problems; have technical agility; and exhibit the ability to work effectively within engineering teams on complex projects.
Education or Certifications Required:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a related field. Current Solaris Certified Systems Admin (SCSA) and/or Solaris Certified Network Admin (SCNA) certifications
