Job Description:	The Platform Engineering Team - a new team being constructed with client's eCommerce development organization - is seeking a highly skilled Java Engineer to work in an agile environment building key components of our eCommerce and mobile infrastructure. Working with Business Analysts, Architects and other Engineers the Senior Java Engineer will be responsible for design and development of robust and scalable srevices that provide the foundation of our eCommerce sites including dedicated web-based services and integration with both internal and external systems. The work will include a mix of enhancements to our existing platform, optimizing it for scalability, requiring someone that believes in high levels of rigor in the development process. The development environment is primarily Java but includes a variety of web-based technologies as well as a versatile set of storage options including Oracle, Cassandra and Aerospike. In addition to development the Senior Engineer will deliver rich documentation of the modules built and assist other development teams in their effective use. A key element to platform development will be the incorporation of automated test and regression test suites as a part of all deliverables. At times, as the needs of the projects dictate, the Senior Engineer may be asked to investigate a new technology and provide a rapid proof-of-concept. About the Team The Platform Engineering Team is part of the eCommerce organization, focusing on producing the Services and Tools that power our branded sites. Our platform is predominantly Java and Spring based but employs a number of Web technologies. Since the team's focus is on the foundations and services of our sites, emphasis is placed on proven development practices including peer reviews and automated testing.
Requirements/ Qualifications:	BA degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related field 8+ years' experience Extensive knowledge of Java and Spring Extensive knowledge of Object Oriented Design Extensive knowledge of relational database systems such as Oracle orMySql Strong understanding of, and ability to write, automated tests Strong understanding of Web Services, particularly REST Working familiarity with Web technologies Experience with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems and n-tiered architectures Excellent written and verbal communication skills
